Limerick's Music Scene: Thriving

Limerick (and Limerick-Adjacent) Artists are killing it these days.

Following some incredible releases from Local Limerick Artists, we've felt inspired to talk a little about the incredible music scene in our little city.

Emma Langford

Revered local Folk singer Emma Langford's amazing new single Boys Will be Boys (F**k That) blew us away with its powerful and important message about violence against women. The song is heavier and angrier sounding than Emma's usually softer sound which is fitting for its message. Boys Will be Boys manages to tackle a heavy subject matter while still feeling joyful and empowering.

Hermitage Green

Local Pop-Folk legends Hermitage Green also released their new album Connection which is stunning and also a stylistic departure from their previous albums with elements of tribal percussion, lush soundscapes, hints of EDM and experimental songwriting. The album is a really beautiful piece of work, you can check out this amazing Limerick Vinyl here.

Dylan Flynn & The Dead Poets

the story after they're gone is the new album from Dylan Flynn & The Dead Poets. It's a great album pairing catchy Indie Rock with a mix of joyful and uplifting lyrics as well as some darker and heavier themes. We're really enjoying listening to this one in store. Check it out here

Susan O'Neill

Special mention here - this one's not quite a Limerick release but Susan O'Neill is from just down the road in Clare. Susan recently launched her album Now in a Minute with a live in-store performance here at Steamboat with Killian Browne accompanying her on piano. It was a phenomenal performance and the album has been on a solid rotation here since. It's a soulful blend of folk and rock with some really stunning songwriting and storytelling. Put on the record and let Susan's captivating voice take you on a really emotive journey. Click here to check it out
