Sour Soul is the result of a unique collaboration between Toronto jazz and hip-hop outfit BadBadNotGood and Staten Island rap icon Ghostface Killah. Drawing heavily from the sound and spirit of 1960s and '70s music, the album embraces vintage recording methods and prioritises live instrumentation over sampling. Together with producer Frank Dukes, BadBadNotGood craft a rich, cinematic backdrop that perfectly complements Ghostface's powerful storytelling. The record also boasts standout appearances from MF Doom, Elzhi (of Slum Village / J Dilla fame), Danny Brown, and rising talent Tree (Project Mayhem).
