Blur's 8th studio album, "The Magic Whip", showcases the talents of band members Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James, and Dave Rowntree, along with assistance from Mike Smith and Demon Strings. After being stranded in Tokyo in 2013, the group turned their downtime into creative energy, resulting in new material for the album. With producer Stephen Street on board, the album was finalized in early 2015, featuring lyrical inspiration from Albarn's time in Hong Kong. The cover, featuring the words "Blur Magic-Whip", pays homage to their time in Tokyo during the album's creation.
