OMD’s 1984 album Junk Culture has been remastered from the original ½ inch tapes and cut at half speed by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios, following the same care given to their earlier albums Architecture and Morality and Dazzle Ships. Released on April 30, 1984, this fifth album marked a shift to a more melodic sound compared to the experimental Dazzle Ships. Produced by the band and Brian Tench, with input from Tony Visconti, it was recorded in studios including AIR in Montserrat, featuring the then-new Fairlight CMI sampler. Junk Culture enjoyed strong chart success across Europe, with singles like “Locomotion,” “Talking Loud and Clear,” and “Tesla Girls” becoming enduring fan favourites.
