John Coltrane’s 'Africa/Brass' marks his debut with a big band, featuring an unusual lineup of four French horns, tuba, two euphoniums, two trumpets, three reed players, plus a rhythm section with two bassists. The intricate arrangements were mainly crafted by Coltrane and McCoy Tyner, with orchestration by Eric Dolphy, creating a distinctive and powerful sound.
